TRAINING PHILOSOPHY
I have been practicing Motivational Interviewing (MI) since 2002 and have been a trainer since 2017. I am a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers and am committed to delivering high-quality MI training. I teach MI at the University of Oklahoma and have provided extensive community workshops and trainings in various practice settings, including child welfare, juvenile justice, healthcare, and community mental health. I am also an active MI researcher, having published research on MI training and delivered peer-reviewed presentations at national and international conferences (CV).
MI is best learned through active engagement and practice. My training approach emphasizes interactive exercises, role plays, and real play scenarios that reflect the specific challenges faced by your team. This hands-on approach ensures participants can effectively integrate MI techniques into their practice.
